Tiramisu for Dogs
Here's a dog-friendly Tiramisu recipe with homemade ladyfingers and goat cheese, tailored for our pups. Instead of using mascarpone cheese, I've opted for goat cheese in this recipe because it's lower in fat.
Dog-Friendly Tiramisu with Homemade Ladyfingers and Goat Cheese
Ingredients
For the Ladyfingers:
3 egg whites
2 egg yolk
4 tbsp oat flour
2 tbsp almond flour (I use almond flour to lower the carb. Almond flour in moderation is safe for dogs. But if you don’t want to feed almond, you can replace it with oat flour)
For the Goat Cheese Filling:
2 egg yolk
1 oz goat cheese (you can add more goat cheese if you like)
1 egg whites
For Assembly:
Carob powder for dusting
Instructions
How to Make Ladyfingers:
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whip egg whites to stiff peaks
In a separate bowl, whip egg yolk until pale and fluffy
Fold in egg whites to whipped egg yolk
Sift flour and gently fold flour in egg mixture
Pipe the batter on the lined baking sheet (the mixture is going to be a little runny because there is no sugar in the batter)
Bake for 15 minutes
Allow the ladyfingers to cool completely.
How to Make Goat Cheese Filling:
In a bowl, whip egg whites to stiff peaks
In a separate bowl, whip egg yolk until pale and fluffy.
Add goat cheese to whipped egg yolk. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Fold in egg white to yolk/ cheese mixture
Assembly
Once the ladyfingers are cooled, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers in a square 6 x 6 dish.
Spread a layer of the goat cheese filling over the ladyfingers.
Repeat Steps 1 and 2, finishing with a final layer of the goat cheese filling on top.
Dust the top with carob powder to mimic the appearance of cocoa powder.
Place it in the freezer. When it's ready to serve, take it out and let it sit for 15 minutes for easy cutting.
This dog-friendly Tiramisu is a special treat for your dogs. Remember to serve it in moderation and adapt the recipe based on your dog's size, dietary needs, and preferences.
