Chicken Chips for Dogs

These homemade Chicken Chips for dogs are crunchy goodness your pups are going to go crazy for. Packed with lean protein and made with all human-grade ingredients, it's a very healthy snack. I've even created a version for the humans in the family!

Since our last blog post on Crunchy Fish Chips for Dogs was so popular, I've created another crunchy dog treat recipe using chicken. I promise this one won’t leave your house smelling like fish, haha. If your dog loves chicken and enjoys crunchy snacks, you have to give this recipe a try.

These doggie chicken chips are healthy treats made with only four natural ingredients: chicken breast, egg, arrowroot flour, and bone broth. This recipe is actually inspired by my favorite Wilde Chicken Chips! They’re my favorite healthy chips, but they’re pricey to buy. A 1.34-oz bag of Wilde Chicken Chips sells for $3.25, which is $38 a pound for chicken! So I thought, let me make the chicken chips for myself and my mom (Grandma Chow needs to watch her sugar level, so these chips are perfect for her) and create a dog-friendly version for Rambo.

In case you are curious how I made the chips for humans, I used the same recipe below, used regular chicken broth, and added garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, and salt.

Now back to the super crunchy chicken chips for dogs; they're irresistibly tasty, crunchy, and low-calorie, making them an ideal choice for dogs watching their weight or those on restricted diets.

I cannot wait to hear what you and your pups think of this recipe! I hope your pup will love it as much as Rambo does!

What ingredients you need to make Super Crunchy Chicken Chips for Dogs?

  • Chicken breast

  • Egg white

  • Arrowroot flour - Arrowroot flour is a root vegetable that can acts as a prebiotic to support digestive health. It’s a gluten-free and grain-free alternative to wheat flour, which is beneficial for dogs with gluten sensitivities or allergies. It is easily digestible. Additionally, arrowroot flour is known for its binding properties, helping to hold ingredients together in dog treats without the need for gluten.

  • Turkey bone broth - I used the Open Farm Homestead Turkey Bone Broth in this recipe. It’s made with all human-grade ingredients. This bone broth is from turkey bones, carrots, pumpkin, parsley, turmeric and cinnamon. It helps adding more flavor in the the chicken chips. (use code CHOWS15 to save 15%)

FAQs and tips on making this Crunchy Chicken Chips for dogs?

  • What is the best way to store this? Once the chips are completely dry, you can store them in an airtight container for weeks. I only make small batches for treats to maintain freshness. These won’t last more than a week with Rambo.

  • What if I don’t have a dehydrator? If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can use the oven to dehydrate by setting it to the lowest setting.

  • Can I make this using an air fryer instead? I haven’t test this recipe out in the air fryer yet. I would try 225 degrees F for 60 minutes
